Class of 2026 Senior Portraits | Golden Hour Canyon Session in Valencia, California
There is something truly magical about photographing high school seniors during golden hour in the Santa Clarita Valley, and this class of 2026 Senior Session in Valencia, California was the perfect example of why I love what I do.
For this session, we chose one of Valencia’s beautiful canyon locations filled with rolling-hills, oak trees, and rustic wooden fences. The natural landscape creates the perfect backdrop for senior portraits- timeless, warm, and effortlessly California.
As the sun began to lower behind the hills, the canyon lit up with the most gorgeous, golden light, wrapping everything in soft warmth. Golden hour is truly the best time for portraits. The light becomes dreamy and flattering, and it adds a glow that simply can’t be re-created any other time of day.
Lexie looked absolutely stunning against the natural scenery. The rustic fence lines created beautiful leading lines through the images, while the sweeping hills gave the portraits a sense of openness and freedom- the perfect symbolism for a senior about to step into her next chapter.
One of my favorite moments from the session was when she stood beneath the oak tree, as the sun dipped lower behind the hills the light filtered through the branches, creating soft highlights, and that magical, California golden hour glow. It felt relaxed, natural, and completely authentic to who she is.
Senior portraits are such a special milestone. They capture the excitement, confidence, and personality of this moment in life right before everything changes. My goal during every senior session is to make the experience fun, relaxed, and meaningful so that each portrait truly reflects the senior themselves.
This Valencia Canyon location is one of my favorites for senior portraits because it offers so much variety: Open hillsides, rustic, fencing, shaded oak grove’s, and breathtaking sunset light. Every corner provides a new opportunity to create something beautiful and unique.
